I like the Sox lineup today when compared to the mess they fielded yesterday behind their best hitter Abreu. Yestrday, the bottom 4 in the lineup had 11 hits of 57 at bats this spring. Today, in the same area of the batting order they are at much more presentable 17 of 56 (.304). I also like their starting pitcher who is much better than Turner. Quintana might not be lights-out pitcher but he will give his team a good chance. He went 9-10 last season with 3.36 ERA.
Starting for the Dodgers is the newcomer Maeda, who is highly touted, but until he shows he can perform versus the top MLB batters, i'll be conservative in my estimates. In the small sample size he has (5.0 innings) he has a 1.00 WHIP (walks+ hits per inning pitched). If he manages to keep this (or anything near) during the season my hat is off to him. Until he does this, I would say he still has a lot to prove. The Dodgers lineup, particularly the 3-5 spots dont seem to fare great against Quintana. Gonzales, van Slyke and Ethier have gone combined 2 of 10 against him.
I see a fair chance of Chicago snatching this one.
