Who Are The Favourites To Win Euro 2024
03-01-2024
The Euro Championships are upon us again, and we are expecting stellar football and great action. Now that the qualifying group stages are over and we have the 21 teams, we can start speculating who will be the next champions. The play-offs will begin in March 2024, while the kick-off for Euro will be on the 14th of June 2024 in Munich, Germany.
The top countries like England and Italy are always firm favourites, but we cannot discount the likes of Croatia, who made it very far in the previous world, and since then they have been playing impressive football. Germany will be the stage for some explosive
live soccer games in June 2024.
Italy
Italy did not qualify for the World Cup, but the Italian clubs are experiencing success in the Serie A and other leagues. The Italians are favourites for the 2024 Euros. They are the current champions and have won the championship twice. Even though the critics don`t believe Italy will go far, they are a favourite on the sites at seventh place with 4/1.
England
The English lost to Italy on penalties (3-2) in the previous Euro finals, and they are sure to come back with a vengeance in this tournament. England had a difficult road through the qualifiers but had an impressive win over Italy. This may be Southgate`s last championship stint, having been at the helm since November 2016.
The team has incredible attackers and talented midfielders in Jordan Henderson and Kalvin Phillips. Will Southgate use them effectively when the time comes, or will he stick to his conservative approach? The team`s defence is still questionable at best, but they stand a good chance of lifting the trophy even then.
Croatia
Croatia had a great World Cup run and is still playing in solid form;
Zlatko Dalic has vowed to take his team to a successful World Cup, but first, the Euros. Croatia became the 20th team to make it to the Euro Championship. Modric and Budimir showed an impressive partnership with their winning goal. The odds of Croatia winning the Euro are at 25/1; the Croatians are always challengers at major tournaments, so we hope they can be champions this time.
Belgium

The Red Devils are pinning their Euro hopes on new coach Domenico Tedesco; even though he secured a place in Germany, much work must be done. With the Golden Generation gone, his selection of young blood will have to prove themselves; Romelu Lukaku has proven he is a man worth keeping with his performance in the qualifiers. They are grouped with Slovakia, Romania, and the play-off B winner in Group E. They are the third favourite team to take the Euro; the toss-up is between them and Portugal.
According to Tedesco, the Euro is more difficult to win than the World Cup, but he has had a good run since taking over from Roberto Martinez. The team has all their ten games, and morale in the group has improved. With so many retirements in the team, it`s not clear who will be part of the starting 15, but he can test out his combination in the friendly against England in March.
Germany
The hosts also come into the tournament with a new manager who wants to prove himself worthy. They seem a little ragged, but they are certainly contenders for the trophy; for starters, they have a home advantage. They have players like Fritz Walter and Uwe Seeler; we hope Nagelsmann has a solid game plan. There is still time till kick-off in June, and a lot can get right for the three-time champions.
France
Regarding the odds on betting sites, France and England are tied as favourites to win at 7/2. France is currently ranked second on the FIFA rankings, and they came very close to winning the last World Cup. They didn`t do well in the 2020 Euro tournament, but we will not dwell on the past. We don`t know if Mbappe will captain the team in June, but he has his work cut out if he does. The team has an impressive and experienced defence like Lucas and Theo Hernandez, who have played well in their clubs. Griezmann is at the top of his game in his current
club Atletico Madrid, and since this may be his last Euro tournament, he will want to go out in flames.
Last Word
We have a little over six months before the tournament starts, and a lot can happen between now and then for teams doing well and those still struggling. We are still waiting for the results of the play-offs to see who will fill the three remaining spots. It will be an exciting tournament to watch come 2024.
