What You Need to Know About Live Betting

Traditional sports betting is known to be done just before a game or a season begins. This means that odds are only available for a specific period of time and punters could only wager as early as a few days or hours before a game.

At some point, land-based sportsbooks started to introduce halftime bets. These are lines or odds that are put out after this first half of the game. This basically started live betting and there are actually punters who easily got into this.

Now, with the popularity of online and mobile betting, fans or punters who would place live bets have already increased. It’s just easier for online bookies to put out live odds and for people to quickly place their bets. They no longer have to line up and hope that they place their bets just in time before the second half begins.

When it comes to live betting, there are two main ways for you to do this. There is in-play betting and in-game betting. While both types of wagering sound exactly alike, this isn’t really the case. Both are different and offer different ways for you to enjoy wagering.

To explain this directly, in-play betting happens throughout the game. When in-play betting, the odds change only after almost play or possession during the game. Meanwhile, in-game betting is being able to place wagers while a game is happening. The odds of the game will only change during a timeout or commercial break.

In-play bets take place with a mobile sports betting app. This can get intense as punters should be very focused on how the game is going and how the odds are changing as they place their bets. There are times that odds would only last for a few seconds before it gets changed. It’s likely that an odd is only available for 10 to 20 seconds.

Definitely, in-play betting is not for everyone. Mostly, it’s the expert punters who could really enjoy this and profit from it. An in-play punter should be quick on the draw. He or she should be able to easily interpret the odd and make a decision as the game progresses.

However, in-play betting can also be beneficial to punters who missed placing a bet before a game begin. What’s good is that there are multiple betting options available for punters with this. This means multiple point spreads, moneylines, and totals for the punters.

The odds are expected to be fair too with this as data is updated real-time. In fact, some odds available through this can be fairer than others. Traditional betting wherein players could only place bets before a game means that the bookies have already studied the odds that they will offer. They’ve done their research and consulted experts on how they could compete with other bookies and possibly earn more.

Meanwhile, the live betting odds aren’t produced this way. Putting out live betting odds simply means not having the time to get the say of experts to point out their mistakes. It simply makes the odds more accurate. This is why it’s still wise to look around different sportsbooks before placing a bet. However, the popularity of in-play betting is still on the works. It may soon be popular in the US as wagering is becoming more widespread in the country. Even in countries where online sports betting is allowed like in India, this is becoming quite popular too.

You can check India betting sites review to know which operators offer in-play betting with local currencies. The same goes for countries like the UK and the US as not all bookies already offer in-play betting. Just like how it is in Nevada. Nevada sportsbooks aren’t offering this yet.

However, it’s possible that this will soon blow up worldwide with recent technological advancements and how mobile betting is becoming the most popular way to place bets. Another thing that is also noteworthy is that in Australia, this is deemed illegal.

In 2017, a bill was passed in Australia that has restricted sports betting operators to offer in-play betting. This is included in Australia’s Gambling Amendment Bill 2016. This bill was mainly made to take action against offshore operators who put their locals at risk. Part of this is letting the Australian government have the power to decide what is and what is not a sporting event.

This just really means that Australians can’t wager on sports in-play. However, they have found a loophole in this as placing in-play bets through the line isn’t exactly illegal in the country. And so, some bookies in Australia offer in-play betting by adding a link that directs Australians to a person on the line who could place their bets.
