I’ll be quick with this prediction.
The Algerian national team plays a friendly today against Palestine. Algeria’s coach, Madjid Bouguerra, called up 25 players for a double friendly against Palestine, which will serve as preparation for the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, to be played in Qatar in December. The squad is mostly made up of players who play for clubs in Gulf countries.
The first friendly was played on the 9th, and Algeria won 3-0.
Palestine are using these matches to prepare for the Arab Cup qualifiers. They will face Libya in a single-leg playoff in November, in Doha.
I get the impression that today Algeria will use the less regular players from this improvised squad, and given the recent situation in Gaza, perhaps a friendly country like Algeria might “help” in some way to lift the morale of a Palestinian team in need of it.
Even just a more relaxed approach from the Algerians could allow at least one goal from Palestine—or at least that’s the feeling I get from this friendly match.
