Andy Vences vs Erick De Leon (lost)

Vences vs De Leon for the vacant WBO super featherweight world title and for the WBC Americas Continental title (be careful it’s not the WBC World title)

Vences is undefeated, 20-0, (20W-0L), 12KOs, and he is looking to fight for both title, one he will defend it (WBC americas continental) and the other who is vacant wich means that there is no champion and no one is defend it so who ever wins this fight is going to retain two title.

Vences is a good technical fighter, very skilled, nice footwork, moved well around the ring. Some of boxing fans never heard of Andy Vences because he was fighting on some « small fights » and dont have a huge amater carreer but here he has the opportunity to show everybody who he is.

De leon is undefeated too, 17-0, great amater career, had a lot of fights, he won 3 times the golden gloves (an american amater tournament), so people might known him better than Vences.

I think this fight is pretty even, both have their chance to win, both have about the same fights and about the same level but I am going to give the slide edge to Vences.

This fight is scheduled for 10 rounds, Vences had already 2 10rounds fights, De Leon hasn’t. Vences has fought the better opposition too with his most notable win being on Casey Ramos for the title and this is were I knew him, about 1 year and half ago, he impressed me and did a good job to take the belt.

De Leon hasnt been tested yet, as he didn’t fought any notable fighters on the pro rankings. But De Leon is very dangerous and a really good fighter, he definetely have his chance in this fight, he is training with Robert Garcia and sparr with world champion Mickey Garcia.

Both fighters have their chances and need this win to step up and fight bigger opposition. It’s bery risky for both fighters for taking this fight because whoever wins it is going to boost his popularity, his bank account and way bigger fights are coming so stakes are really high at this point.

But as I said, Vences is for me the most experienced guu, he fought more notable fighters, and he is really focused and look to take both titles. I believe it’s a very even match and I think Vences will win this one most probably by a close decision.

I would slightly favour DeLeon in this fight, but Vences does appear to be the better technical fighter of the two, so as you said I would have it as a pick em fight basically 50/50.
