Auxerre has a lonely point after the first 3 rounds of the league. The newly promoted squad has struggled with discipline and had to finish the last couple of matches with 10 men. The hosts signed a few good players to reinforce the squad like Theo Bair from Motherwell and Lasso Coulibaly from Nordsjaelland. It's too early to realistically evaluate Auxerre. They showed some good football in the past round like Perrin's amazing goal against Le Havre. However, Monaco seems to be a difficult task to overcome and the team lost the last 4 matches against the guests.
Monaco has strong ambitions this season at both domestic and international level. There were important departures during the transfer windows but on paper the squad is still compact with depth. Offense will continue to be lead by Embolo that shined during the Euro, Balogun that will seek a better season since his transfer from Reims and Minamino that is excellent in exploiting defensive bottlenecks. Freshly signed Lamina Camara has been looking good so far and has a registered goal. Last round they were unfortunate against Lens as Zakaria made a from hero to 0 performance.
Auxerre plays well at home but Monaco is one of the strongest sides on the road. The guests are supposed to win such encounters to stay close in the competition with PSG and Marseille. A win will be a further boost before playing Barcelona in the Champions League. I believe that Auxerre will be empty-handed for a third consecutive match.
