The Sabres have a couple of extra days rest and this can be gold. They had less intense series than the Canadiens and 2 extra days where the team have been practicing new strategies. I think the hosts have the better squad and more complete lines. It's also the more physical team and beats the Habs in size. Lyon has been stellar on goal but so was Dobes - no edge here. The one weak point for the Sabres has been power play, they had just a single PP goal against the Bruins which is a conversion of 5%.
The Canadiens emerged victorious against the Lightning. These series were extremely tight and required a seventh game. I did side for the Habs in the final game because odds had huge value. We did win but Dobes was the MVP and the Canadian team got lucky. However, both teams were trading "lucky" win so it's not the heist of the year. Yet, winning in regular time with 9 shots on goal and 0 shots in 2nd period... that's wild. I am a bit skeptical of the offensive output from the guests and players like Caufield and Slafkovsky are cold.
Bookies see these series as 50/50. I'd think they give an extra edge to the Canadiens as the Sabres have home ice advantage and the odds are even. I have more faith in the top-line of the Sabres and I think that they will win the physical battle. I will kick off the series with a win for the Sabres.
