Balotesti is the kind of team that is quite useless. They are from a small village near Bucharest with a population of 6000 people but they don't have any real fan base or supporters.
This will be their 5th year in the second league and I'm surprised they lasted that long.
Last season they started poor, appointed their coach with just a couple of days before the first game against Hermannstadt and I was quite convinced they will relegate but managed to make some miraculous transfers in the winter break including the Herea brothers who boosted the quality of the team a lot and in the end not only the team avoided relegation but they finished 13th, a place that seemed impossible to achieve after the first part of the season.
Now the things haven't changed and this year things became worse.
Probably in order to reduce the costs they became the second team of Concordia Chiajna, the first tier league team decided it would be best the disband their second team from the 3rd league and have several players including the former coach of Chiajna 2 move at Balotesti.
How good was the second team of Chiajna in the 3rd league last season? They finished 9th out of 13 so it's quite clear that Balotesti is a lot weaker than last season since most of the players left the team, including the Herea brothers so I seriously doubt they can take on Petrolul today.
Petrolul is one of the teams with great tradition in Romanian football and have a solid fan base. They went bankrupt 3 years ago, started from scrap in the 4th league and promoted in the second league and of course they now want to get back in Liga 1.
Their squad is not that great, it's not of first league material but I think it's enough for them to reach their goal. They have some good players like Plamada, Tiganasu,Cazan,Ghinda,Claudiu Herea came from Balotesti or Sergiu Arnautu. It's a mixture of young players plus some experienced ones from the first league.
Difference of value is big, in the first game Balotesti lost at Pitesti with FC Arges with only 2-0 but nobody would have been upset if the margin was higher.
Petrolul drew at home against Snagov, a team that is considered to be promotion contender, a thing that I doubt but for sure Snagov is a lot weaker than Balotesti.
I don't know if the asian bookies will have this one in their offer, I saw that from this season some games are in their offer and in normal cass I would go for Petrolul -1.5 here, but since Balotesti is that poor I think it's better to expect them to not score as Petrolul not played that great in the first game. Their offence I mean, the defense did their job.
