Time for Windy City, guessed it, the wind blows out today. The wind is blasting around 9 MPH, which isn't that hard at all to be honest. However, the Cubs are 38-31 at home with the over/under. Most of those overs came when the wind wasn't blowing out, just to be clear.
Today we see good ole Boyd on the mound. The southpaw no longer has that big K power, so his 3.99 ERA should be higher anyway. He has a 1.39 ERA and, here at home, a worse 2.30 Hr/9. He got whooped at home anyway with a 5.44 ERA and even a worse 5.48 FIP. So, all data combined, he could get hit hard in these conditions.
The same can be said for southpaw Gasser, who will start for the Brew Crew. He owns an ERA of 4.59, and he pretty much is pitching to his numbers with a 4.44 FIP.
Gasser pitched this season in another hitters-friendly park (at Athletics, where the wind plays a role as well), and he got smashed for 5 runs by allowing 4 home runs, allowing a total of 6 runs that day in Sacramento.
I believe we should see another Wrigley Field classic.
