The Stars were embarrassed against the Hawks as they lost by 6-2. With a couple of losses in a row, I am happy to back them to bounce back against a difficult opponent. They haven't lost 3 times in a row this season and at home, this team has always been an institution. The loss against the Canes was... a painful choke and the Hawks a typical let-down spot especially since it was a pre-holiday match. Tonight, Oettinger will be between the pipes and he has the edge over Georgiev. Plus, H2H has been by far in favor of the Stars.
The Avs are back in the game since 2-3 weeks. They had a very slow start of the season but now they have pace and depth. Speaking about depth, I think the Stars have more offense than the Avs. The guests rely more on their top-line but it's good to see Nichushkin starting to score again. On the road, the Avs have been doing pretty well but their last match away from Colorado was a big disaster. I get the narrative to back the Avs especially with the humiliating loss of the Stars, but it feels like the Avs will struggle with the Stars' defense.
Hintz is cleared from IR and should be back in the squad for the Stars. Surely, they were held accountable for that loss against the Hawks during Thanksgiving diner and they should be able to bounce back in front of the fans. The way the odds are set feels like an excellent home spot and bookies giving some "fake" value over the Avs just because of the "yeaaaaah, the Avs are superb right now and the Stars were embarrassed by the Hawks". Hopefully, I've read the match-up well and the last sentence isn't actually the reality :D
