The Stars had a rough patch after the Christmas holidays. Yet, for the past week, the team has been playing solid hockey and ride a 5 games winning streak. This includes a couple of wins against the Blues by 3-2 and 4-3. The Stars have the 2nd best power play unit in the league and it really makes the difference. In their last encounter, 2 of the 3 goals scored were with man advantage so that's something to watch out for tonight. Oettinger is projected on goal and his stats regressed compared to the month of December.
The Blues are coming after a tragic loss against the Predators. We are all happy as we had the Preds ML and the comeback was historic. The Blues had a 5-1 lead by the 2nd period and then allowed 5 unanswered goals. Offense has been doing fine for the past rounds and even without Robert Thomas, they score. However, I have 0 confidence in defense & goaltending. They allow cheap goals and it's frustrating watching them. At this point, the Blues play without pressure as this season is gone and they should consider some major moves.
It's the last match for both teams before the three-week Olympic break. The two squads are rolling in offense but the Blues can concede multiple goals within minutes. We might expect some goals and the odds are value. I hope Binnington is on goal for the Blues but it's yet to be confirmed.
