Egypt have certainly grown into the tournament after starting slow against Dominican Republic, they collected victories against Uzbekistan & Spain, and maybe they have become hot in the right moment? Statistically they have not necessarily been the best in their games but have found ways to win and be effective when it matters. The player material is quite average, so in my view it's already a shock to see them pass the group stage. But having two victories to lean on, it is most likely a confident Egyptian team coming into this playoff, despite not having many well known names in this context, but rather a good unit.
Paraguay started the tournament with a slap in the face 5-0 defeat against Japan after a red card. They followed up with two victories against Israel & Mali. Squad wise this is one of the most sharp ones, and let's remember that it's not Brazil or Argentina who are South American champions - it's this Paraguay side. This is a team with genuine medal aspirations and for me, under the radar, a team who can compete for gold. They continue to create chances and finish their attacks, possessing a dangerous attacking style of play. They are relentless and intense to play against over 90 minutes and have shown over a long period of time, ever since the qualifiers in South America, they're no fluke.
Conclusion: Both Egypt & Paraguay have similar journeys in the tournament so far. Opening with a questionable performance and later grown into it and look genuinely good. However this is now the moment which quality separates the surprises, and for me Paraguay are the better team in each essential parameter data wise, as well having watched the matches I find Paraguay to be a bad fit for Egypt. Nevertheless, I will protect the draw (because it's playoffs) and select Paraguay AH (0) (same as draw no bet)
