From the league-table perspective, Manchester City are currently six points behind Arsenal with two games in hand, and they also trail by four goals in goal difference. However, the title race is still in their own hands. The key point is that the season has now entered its final stretch, and City no longer have much room for mistakes. They not only need to win every remaining match, but also try to improve their goal difference whenever possible. On the other side, Everton have already completed their main task of staying in the Premier League. After suffering back-to-back defeats recently, their form has clearly dropped. Their European hopes are not very realistic, and for a mid-table Premier League side, it is difficult to match the motivation of a team fighting for the title.
Tactically, Manchester City are in excellent form, having won six matches in a row. Their recent improvement comes from a more effective strong-side to weak-side attacking structure. At the start of matches, City often focus their attacks down the left, with Doku using his one-on-one ability to break through, while O’Riley makes aggressive runs into the box. If the left side is blocked, City can quickly switch the ball to the right, where Semenyo and right-back Nunes can attack the space behind the defense. Nunes, in particular, has been heavily involved going forward, creating sudden changes of pace on that flank. Both City full-backs offer strong attacking quality, and this type of wide rotation and pressure is something most teams cannot easily copy.
Of course, City are not without concerns. Rodri has recently been dealing with a groin issue and is doubtful for this match. If he is unavailable, City’s midfield control could be affected. Still, Guardiola’s system remains highly reliable, and he also holds a strong record against David Moyes, with 13 wins and 2 draws in 15 Premier League meetings. The market has continued to raise the line on City, which shows that there is still some resistance around the away side. But considering their title motivation, current form, tactical momentum and Everton’s situation, Manchester City remain the stronger side
