The Cats won Game 1 by 3-0. True, they were outshot by the Oilers and I can already hear some guys saying "yeah, they were lucky, they were dominated, they will for sure lose Game 2". I will say a couple of things: (1) I've said it in the first preview - defense & goaltending are winning championships, (2) why would the Cats aim to dominate the Oilers since they had an early lead and doubled it early in second period?
The Oilers tried to blast as many shots on goal but just couldn't even get one. They were unlucky in one occasion where they hit the post but other than that, they just couldn't find answers against Bobrovsky. This is frustrating as they cannot change much in their game. I've said it, they don't have enough depth in offense and defense & goaltending are not Stanley Cup quality. Odds decreased for the guests as it's a crucial game for the Oilers to win but so it is for the Cats.
I will stick with my pick from Game 1. I think the Cats will lift the trophy and this means taking the first two games in Miami. I like that Bob kept an empty net and the Cats play physical hockey that is wearing opponents.
