So I'm not entirely sure what is poinitng towards the fact that Japanese team would be so much better as odds would suggest. Both teams have their squads made up mostly by players from their 'domestic' semi-pro (or really low level pro) leagues (= latvian league with lithuanian teams and Asia League). Both teams have some interesting additions from more develope leagues and some hockey bizarre travelers. Which is all perfectly in-line with teams on 1A/1B level. It's just there's really not that visible difference in term of quality.
And i can say the same for matches so far - both teams lost to Kazakhstan clearly and easily and both resisted to one stronger opponent (Ukraine vs France) in matches they were clearly worse side.
So all in all - this is really 50/50 match, with addition that I would almost say that for example against Kazakhstan Lithuania was more effective and fight better than Japanese. So this represents value for me.
