This is a home fixture where Melbourne Victory should have no fear of attacking and really should be able to score plenty of goals. Won at home last season 2-1 with Western United and only drew back than 2-2 away at same Western United. In November this season they played away at Western United while winning 3-1 in the end, goals scored in due time with plenty of time left for a 5th goal.
In terms of goals expected in that fixture, Victory was at around 2.50, and Western just 0.5, but 4 goals were scored. Saw Western United recently win dramatic 3-2 at Perth Glory, awful defending from them, good scoring skills near the end turning the game on its head from 2-1 behind with minutes left to play. A wonder goal brought them the 3 points. But last round away at strong Melbourne City, they only created several big scoring chances, but it was not the best day for striker Botic.
In terms of defending at City, they conceded with ease 2 goals, had a 3 goal in the back of their net ruled out by the VAR, they were really open at the back, and easy to be scoring goals against. And my theory here, is with Victory drawing 2-2 at home with WS Wanderers last round, that Western should score, and Victory either will concede a 2nd goal, or more likely score 2-3 goals themselves, hope for another 3-1 win for the hosts, although Western in other recent away games have been quite prolific.
