Mensik went through Droguet, Navone, De Minaur and Rublev. This means that he played against all type of players: strong baseliners, strong servers, aggressive hitters and fast players. The match against Navone was dramatic as the had extreme cramps and the medical team had to lift him from the ground after his victory. The match against Rublev was a semi choke as he had a 2-0 sets lead and allowed the Russian to tie the game. Overall, Mensik showed that he has solid mental resilience and high stamina. His serve is a key weapon but he also has a very steady backhand.
Fonseca produced a couple of hardcore comebacks. Not many players have managed to win after being down by a couple of sets. He actually did it twice in a single tournament! Indeed, he beat Prizmic and I still hold a grudge against him & Djokovic in what was an incredible match. Last round, he beat Ruud and he didn't look exhausted at all. The forehands of Fonseca are just lightning fast. He reminds me of Del Potro. The youngster plays with high energy, tempo, aggression and power. He is the rightful favorite in tennis dynamic but I wonder when the gas will finally get emptied.
Both players reach for the first time the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam. Fonseca played his last 2 matches at Philippe-Chatrier which is a significant edge. Mensik will have the serve and possibly experience. Fonseca will have the forehand and athleticism. I think that Fonseca will win but we need to chase handicaps and Mensik isn't a push over. I'd rather take the Over as I don't see straight sets win but a well fought match between a couple of Next Gen players.
