A classic historical encounter between two WC greats although the Dutch never won it, they had some great teams back in the day. This one looks a bit soft if you ask me, especially in the middle, but the talent is still there and on a good day they can cause problems for Argentina with their talented offensive players. They did well so far, although sleepwalked through that group and gave the USA a reality check with a nice tactical display, but they did not look solid at all and started the game passively. I'm still not convinced about this Dutch pragmatic style especially when you do not seem to know how to defend properly, really invited pressure against the USA and if they do the same against Albiceleste they will get caught because they face different quality now and Argentina is a hard team to play against, they fight like dogs, they do look bad at times, especially first half but I think they do it intentionally just to save energy as when they speed up the play they can look deadly, especially when pressing high, and I think they will do that against Netherlands, maybe not from the start but surely in the second half and they got Messi which was brilliant against the Aussies, especially in the second half when spaces started to open up. Argentina does not look to blow teams, but they know how to win, we have seen their strength as teams show their real face when they have their back against the wall. We are yet to see the Dutch under pressure, this might be that game where they will have to dig deep and it's gonna come too soon because they have not been tested yet properly. They do have their chances because Argies love to keep it tight, so it's gonna be small margins but I think south-Americans are more prepared for the dogfight of a quarter-final, and got a winning mentality and do not give many chances away.
