The Rangers won against the Pens by 3-2 after a shoutout. It was a bizarre match where the guests really did their best not to win. The Pens had a 2-0 lead that could have been extended but allowed the Rangers to tie the game. At home, the Rangers have been one of the worst team this season and this is true for their overall year. The last time they won twice in a row was 3 months ago and they were still playing for a post-season. Panarin was traded to the Kings and more heads will fly by the end of the season for sure. Shesterkin remains one of the better goalies and special teams are pretty okay. Yet, without Panarin, power play will regress.
The Jackets somehow lost against the Bruins and they did play well. Last round, I backed them against the Islanders. They had a 2-0 lead, could have even score a third goal but the Islanders managed to tie the game within 22 seconds. In overtime, the Islanders picked up the extra point and this game was so unlucky for the Jackets at all levels. Fantilli, Bowness, Werenski and Coyle all expressed feeling of disappointment after the game and they are right. This game should have been all over the Jackets. They have a good spot against a team that is not threatening at home rink and has a terrible season that leads to a "retooling".
The Jackets are 0-2 since the Olympics break but "should" have won both matches. They have a real shot for a post-season but they need to take wins in such match-ups. The team has offensive depth and Greaves is projected on goal which is the first choice goalie. I will give the benefit of the doubt to the Jackets even though they messed with us 2 days ago.
