After 5 losses in a row, the Rangers finally picked up a win. Indeed, they beat the Canadiens by 4-3 in what was a bit of luck due to the circumstances. The Rangers looked good for the first 20 minutes but gradually lost steam during the course of the match and allowed the Habs to tie the game. Luckily for the hosts, Dach made an idiotic penalty and Kakko scored the winning power play goal with 25 seconds remaining. The Rangers have been dreadful for the past couple of weeks and lost games against mediocre opponents. There are tensions in the team and a lot of talks are open - change of coach, change of players, new trades and line changes.
The Devils have been very consistent for the past month. Offense is on fire and all the lines are scoring. It's the best team in the conference when playing away from home so I like the bounce back spot. Last round, the registered a tight loss against the Capitals by 6-5. During November, the Devils haven't loss twice in a row and the Rangers could be an excellent rival spot to continue the trend. The guests are better on 5-on-5 and power play. This ultimately might give them the edge over the Rangers that play some flat hockey and with poor conversion. Markstrom should be on goal and he has been doing a little but better than Shesterkin.
The odds have increased by 5-6% for the past couple of hours. This is because Jack Hughes missed the morning practice. From what I've read in the media, he is expected to play tonight so we might have just received some value boost before the official line-ups. It's not an easy match. The Rangers finally picked up a win and I understand people backing them to sustain that run. However, my read is on the Devils that have been killer whales with special units and have one of the most aggressive forechecks on 5-on-5.
