Melbourne City dominated all 4 league games in this start of the season, 3-1-0 record for them and despite winning all 3 of those games by just 1 goal difference, they really could have won far bigger. Opponents were not that easy as they drew 2-2 at Western United, but had the lead in that away game till late on, won last round 4-3 at home with WS Wanderers, but had the lead 4-1, won 2-1 at home with Canberra W, plenty of shots from them once more, had the lead 2-0, and also won 1-0 at Wellington Phoenix W their opening game of the season.
Newcastle W are doing bad, just two goals scored in four games, and just four points. They won their opener, 1-0 away at CCM W, they also drew 1-1 at home against WS Wanderers, while they lost 1-0 at Perth W, but Perth W are the type of team that is satisfied with a min win, and counter attack and time waste a lot once ahead. While last round they played at Victory W who are not even as attacking minded as City is, and lost there with 4-0.
I watched Melbourne City W take a 3-0 lead by HT against Newcastle W at home last season, Newcastle with a different coach, lost with 5-1 in the end, and City really took it easy after scoring the 3rd goal, but Newcastle made it 3-1, and it only got the City W players angry and they quickly scored two more goals. 8 months ago they also met here at Newcastle, the hosts had just one early big chance, game totally controlled by Melbourne City W who should have had a 2,3-0 lead by HT, scored just once, while they scored with ease 3 late goals and won 4-0 in the end, so I find the odds delicious here on backing the -3 AH on Melbourne City, clearly the better side.
