I think Newcastle are able to upset the leaders. The home advantage
is one of the reasons as full St James Park will be the Magpies 12th
player, while the guests are feeling a huge pressure. So far Newcastle
hosted three big names - Arsenal, Man City and Tottenham. The Magpies
beat Arsenal and Tottenham, while shared the points with Man City (before the crisis).
There
is another reason - the injury situation. While Howe has the majority
of his players available, including Isak, Slot has several issues. Trent
has just recovered from injury, I doubt he could play another match in
just three days. But Bradley is sidelined and Slot has no other options.
Robertson is also tired, but Tsimikas is out, so he must run another 90
minutes. The midfield duo of Gravenberch and Mac Allister is desperate
for rest, only Szoboszlai are sharing the minutes with Curtis Jones. Even the
attackers need some rest, particularly Gakpo and Luis Diaz. I am pretty sure Slot will continue to push
his key players, but he is risking injuries. To be worse, they will not
be able to give their usual maximum. Newcastle could take advantage from
Liverpool issues.
