Pliskova hasn't gone three sets since her win against Vika back in the US Open. Only 2 of the 8 H2H matches have gone the distance. Linette is a legitimate dog in this affair due to the H2H swaying heavily in Pliskova's direction. However, I'm not convinced that the Czech deserves to be a given a 63% chance of winning this match, I'd say it's more of a 55% considering the form that Linette shown in this tournament. She got past Garcia by playing steady tennis and going 9+ in her Winner/UE ratio. Before that she got past Alexandrova in a match where she really should have been the favorite given the Russian's form. Her victory against Kontavit made her the winner of 3 straight as a dog. Karolina on the flipside dominated Zhang and pretty much has had a comfortable ride since opening the tourny.
Starling Says: I like the Czech to pull out the W, but I don't see this being as clean cut as advertised. If Linette can manage to get her first serve clicking like she did against Garcia late in the match, Pliskova's return game will struggle. If it gets to a tie-breaker anything can happen. As oppose to taking a side I'm going to back the OVER 22 games as I could see this becoming a complicated match and a possible 3 setter.
