Shapovalov is defending the title in Dallas and I believe that's the main reason why bookies are setting such price. In first round, he demolished young Jodar and I think the match-up was one-sided. Yesterday, he beat Kovacevic in straight sets and the American didn't even have a break point opportunity. Shapovalov was a heavy favorite in both rounds and this match-up will be the real test. Serving has been good in Dallas but he can get very shaky under pressure and that's exactly what I expect tonight.
Davidovich-Fokina is the kind of baseliners that can irritate the opponent. He is very consistent and usually opponents will need to take an extra ball or higher risk shots that lead to errors. Shapovalov isn't a mentally strong player and the Spaniard can get under his skin. The H2H is tied to 1-1 with Fokina winning their most recent encounter in Mexico. In Dallas, the Spaniard won against Svajda and Michelsen. The win over the American was pretty impressive and I think these odds are worth taking.
I suggest we back the "underdog". I am going for a risker pick today but I think the bookies didn't get the price right and push the public to blindly back the title defender. The Spaniard has all the weapons to irritate Shapovalov and he has a very strong record against lefties.
