Overall, Spain has been the most impressive team in the competition. They have been playing an attacking-minded football and creating tons of chances. The squad is in the mist of a generational change and La Fuente has done an excellent job to dig up talent. Yamal has been a headline throughout the tournament but he has nice support by the likes of Williams, Morata, Rodri, Ruiz and Olmo. They will look to take a 4th title in this competition which would create history. My concern is that this match-up is not good for them. They have been exploiting vulnerable teams but England has a solid midfield that will not allow the same room for Spain to operate in offensive phases.
England has been a disappointment. Offense hasn't been clicking and a few last second goals kept them in the competition. Several top players aren't in form and Foden has been invisible on the pitch unlike his neck tattoo. Kane scoring against the Netherlands could give him more confidence as the forward has been shaky for the past weeks. The Three Lions will also be hungry for the win as this will break something like 60 years without a trophy. I think that the squad has a couple of strong edges: much more experience & mental strength + stacked midfield. Southgate is also the more experienced coach and England will try to make a statement tonight.
Carvajal and Normand will be back for Spain but Pedri is out. England has only Trippier as doubtful. It's also interesting to see if Luke Shaw will be a starter as he was a successful substitution against the Netherlands. I really believe that Spain just doesn't have the required experience to beat a team that remains solid in defense. As much as the Three Lions were lucky with late goals, this is something that builds mental strength and shows fighting/survival skills. May the better team lift the trophy but I think that England will squeeze the cup.
