Slovenia come into this match after a good performance against Montenegro. I expected a high-scoring game and that’s exactly what we got, with 81 goals in total. That said, Slovenia did surprise me, as they managed to cope with their many absences quite well. Novak, Makuc and Jank stood out with very solid performances. However, overall their defense was a joke.
As I mentioned in my previous pick, Switzerland drew against the Faroe Islands, and I did not expect their star player to play the entire match. That clearly contributed to the game being so even. In any case, it ended in a draw and it was not a great performance from Switzerland. With this being the second matchday and after making some adjustments, we could see an improved version of the Swiss team today.
Slovenia are once again playing with multiple absences, and if they don’t improve defensively, the outlook is not very promising. They will surely make some defensive corrections today, as conceding 40 goals is not something normal, but if Switzerland manage to improve their game, they should have no problems reaching the 30-goal mark.
