Djurgården arrive with eight wins, two draws and four defeats from 14 rounds, with 33 goals scored and 15 conceded. Västerås have six wins, four draws and five defeats, with a 24-29 goal record. Looking at Djurgården’s last ten away matches, they have won six, drawn two and lost two, with recent away victories against Degerfors, Häcken and AIK among those results.

Still, the meeting on 3 August is a particularly valuable piece of evidence because it involved the same opponent, very similar structures and took place only seven days ago. The 6-0 result was obviously higher than the chance production would normally justify, with xG finishing 3.93–1.32 in Djurgården’s favour. The shot count was 18-15 and shots on target were 11-10, showing that Västerås were able to produce volume. However, the quality of chances and Djurgården’s ability to reach genuinely dangerous areas were clearly superior.

In Västerås, I expect the hosts to be less emotionally passive and more determined to prevent this rematch from repeating last week’s early pattern. That can increase intensity, encourage more aggressive pressing and allow Västerås to compete better for second balls. But it can also remove protection when the first press is beaten. Djurgården showed in the first match that they can attack the spaces that appear when Västerås step higher, while also having several players capable of turning attacks into high-quality chances.
