The final qualifying spot in Group C of the Americas now comes down to a direct battle between Venezuela and Colombia. For Venezuela, this is no longer just another group-stage game. It is a survival match with no room for hesitation.

Because of the recent earthquakes back home, Venezuela were forced to move their home games to Colombia during this window. On paper, back-to-back losses to Brazil and Chile do not look encouraging, but the actual performances were not as poor as the results suggest. Even against Brazil, Venezuela managed to keep the game under control for long stretches and never completely collapsed, which shows they have gradually adjusted to the temporary venue and the overall conditions.

The situation is now crystal clear. Chile have already secured one of the available tickets, so Venezuela must beat Colombia by at least 10 points if they want to force their way into the next round. That gives this game a very different emotional and tactical setup. Venezuela cannot afford to sit back or play cautiously. They have to raise the intensity from the opening tip, attack the glass, pressure the ball and treat every possession like it could decide their campaign.

Angola led the team with 14 points, while guard Suárez also scored 14 and hit 4 of his 8 attempts from three-point range. Still, beyond Angola, who has experience in European basketball, this Colombian roster remains fairly limited and does not have a major talent advantage across the board.

The biggest difference here is motivation. Colombia may still compete, but Venezuela have the stronger urgency and clearer target. In a game where effort, physicality and late-game focus can decide the margin, Venezuela should be the side playing with greater desperation.
