It's a long night in games but to be honest, I don't like a lot of matches tonight. The Capitals have 4 wins in a row and since Ovechkin's absence, they are 4-2 which is quite remarkable compared to last season. Offense has adjusted but it was expected as the team made strong trades during the summer. It's good to see the team being more independent of their captain. In the last 3 matches, the Caps were involved in matches with 9, 8 and 11 goals. Obviously, defense is bleeding goals but offensively, the team can be trusted.
The Sharks beat the Kraken twice which for their standards it's strong momentum. Sharks have been juicy in goals this season and in their last 10 games, the Over 5.5 was converted on 8 occasions. It only failed to deliver against the Rangers (when still in-form) and Blues (that lack offense). Thus, playing against the Capitals that focus on offense than defense could mean another high scoring match-up. The Sharks look more and more confident in the depth of their lines and young Celebrini looks inspired.
In terms of goaltending, Thompson for the Capitals should have a slight edge over Blackwood. Yet, this isn't a defensive match-up and we have to evaluate offense which in this case is healthy. I will take the conservative line but if you want to really take some value, the Over 6.5 could be the play for you.
