The Jets recovered Hellebuyck earlier than expected. He played his first match against the Capitals and guess what? They won by 5-1 and it was a one-sided affair. During Hellebuyck's injury, the Jets managed to get just 2 wins for the past month. Yet, it's true that the schedule was difficult and they faced many rough opponents. I expect the results to normalize in their favor and having the primary goaltender back is an obvious boost. Other than that, the Jets have a full squad.
The Senators aren't in better form. They have stacked many losses for the past month and have just 3 wins in the last 10. Power play has been an asset right now on behalf of one of the worst penalty kill units. I am just not convinced on goaltending & defense. Ullmark (confirmed) and Merilainen aren't solid enough. Ullmark's consistency is on day-to-day and his stats have declined for the past couple of weeks. Could have been a good opportunity for a road upset if Hellebuyck was still injured.
I will take the hosts. The Jets are very goalie dependent and Hellebuyck has the edge in the match-up. The odds are attractive since the overall form of both teams have been bad.
