Premier League Betting: Which Teams Could Suffer Relegation Next Season?

The Premier League is gearing up for another electrifying season, and most of the talk is currently focused on the title contenders. Liverpool head into the 2025/26 season as the reigning champions after somewhat surprisingly claiming the title last term in dominant fashion.

Now, armed with new signings Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, online live betting sites make them the favorites to defend their crown. While Bovada`s live betting odds won`t be available until the first game of the season, Liverpool vs Bournemouth, kicks off on August 14th, their ante-post betting certainly is. They currently make the champion Reds a 2/1 favorite to claim their third title in five years next season, odds narrowly shorter than those of perennial runners-up Arsenal and Pep Guardiola`s Manchester City. But while the title race offers plenty of excitement, the relegation battle offers its own high-stakes drama.

In each of the last two seasons, all three teams promoted from the Championship have been immediately relegated at the first time of asking. However, these three established Premier League outfits could well be looking over their shoulders ahead of the new season getting underway.

Brentford

Brentford have long been hailed for their shrewd recruitment and togetherness since climbing into the Premier League. Last season, they managed to secure another midtable finish, thanks in large part to the clear tactics and steadfast leadership of manager Thomas Frank. However, that foundation looks less sturdy heading into the new campaign as their long-serving Danish boss is no longer at the helm.

The departure of Frank to Tottenham Hotspur represents a seismic shift for the Bees. The Dane was not only the club’s tactician but its cultural heartbeat. One couldn’t begrudge him the opportunity of joining the reigning Europa League holders and testing his mettle in the Champions League next season, but his exit leaves a gaping hole that no immediate successor can expect to fill painlessly.

His replacement has left a lot to be desired as well. Keith Andrews was the set-piece coach throughout the outgoing Dane’s tenure, and he will now take over as manager despite having no managerial experience. The situation is further complicated by the expected departures of both Bryan Mbuemo and Yoann Wissa, arguably the club`s two best players.

Over the past few seasons, their partnership has been crucial for Brentford’s quick transitions and goal tallies in tight contests. The West London side would have a job on its hands replacing just one of them, let alone both.

Should both players leave, Brentford will need to rebuild their frontline at a time when new ideas and cohesion are desperately needed. Thus far, replacements have been neither announced nor linked with much conviction, raising questions about the club’s often reliable recruitment strategy. Now, however, that impressive transfer system they have built up over the last decade or so could be set to abandon them just when they need it the most.

West Ham United

West Ham United’s journey last season was a story of a promising beginning unraveling quickly under mounting pressure. With Graham Potter at the helm, the Hammers appeared to be moving in a new direction, but old failings soon resurfaced. Their early-season spark died out rapidly as defensive hiccups and a lack of consistent attacking threat came to the fore.

While individual brilliance from the likes of Jarrod Bowen saved them at times, the loss of cohesion and form saw West Ham sliding dangerously close to the relegation zone. They retained their Premier League status, but only because the newly promoted teams below them were a million miles off the top-flight pace.

The situation has deteriorated further over the summer. Their biggest blow came when star midfielder Mohammed Kudus was snapped up by cross-city rivals Spurs. The Ghanaian has been one of the few constant sources of goals and creative sparks over the last two years, and he leaves a void that the club has yet to address.

The transfer window has, so far, offered little solace for fans hoping for an influx of new talent, with last season`s loanee Jean-Clair Todibo being signed the first permanently in the window. A few other names have followed, but fans have been feeling uncertain about whether Potter’s tactical ideas really fit the current squad, compounding the anxiety surrounding the club’s Premier League future.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers experienced a precarious campaign last season, flirting with disaster for long stretches before being steadied late on by Vítor Pereira. His appointment injected discipline and structure into a side that had struggled with a lack of consistency and direction, ultimately steering Wolves to safety. Still, their escape owed almost as much to the failings of rivals as to any resurgence of their own quality.

If anything, Wolves now face an even bleaker outlook. The departures of key figures, most notably top scorer Matheus Nunes to Manchester United, have left Wolves alarmingly short of firepower. The losses of Rayan Aït-Nouri and Pablo Sarabia further strip away much-needed creativity and tactical flexibility. These exits have exposed the club’s shallow squad depth, making a difficult survival task even harder.
