LA Clippers decided to trade Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley and Boban Marjanovic. Without him, they have 3 wins and 1 defeat. The trade happened in the same time with Danilo Gallinari's return, so we can't compare the last results only like a result of that trade. Patrick Beverley remains sidelined, but now we finally have a chance to see the real Clippers. Beverley is important, but the fact that Teodosic will play tonight gives enough options for the Clippers on the positions 1 and 2. I think that now they're better. DeAndre Jordan is very dominant, so they don't need another big man like Griffin. Gallinari has the same size as Griffin, but he's different player who can be used as 3 and 4. Now the Clippers use him as power forward, but have excellent small forward in Tobias Harris. In my opnion, the Clippers are much stronger with this roster.
Brooklyn Nets run their own race in the NBA, without chances to catch the playoffs. They lost their last 5 matches, but they're in a phase of building. They have many young players and their coach mixes the line-up all the time. They don't have a player who plays more than 30 minutes per match. The player who should have been their best player, Jeremy Lin, is injured. Their second scorer, Hollis-Jefferson, is also injured. Their coach Kenny Atkinson will use the remaining matches to get ideas for the next season, to see better the potential of his players. The results won't be so important.
In a situation like this when the Clippers are in a dead race with 4 other teams for 3 positions in the playoffs, I expect from them to give their best. The matches against their direct rivals may be crucial, but every win counts and may be decisive, so they won't have excuses if they lose. The quality is on their side, the motivation is on their side, the pressure is still not big because there are still 27-28 matches to play. I'm a little bit concerned about the needed handicap, but that's why my proposed stake is low.
