Coppa Italia has dense schedule in January and February and we will know the finalists on 5th March. Leaders in Serie A, Juventus and Inter, are favourites in their matches against Milan and Napoli respectively, but Coppa Italia is the only competition where these teams have a chance to win a trophy, so it won't be easy at all!
Milan and Juve are the big losers from the last weekend in Serie A. Milan led 0:2 against Inter on haftime, but in the second half appeared different teams, much stronger Inter and disorganized Milan. Juve also led against Verona, but somehow conceded 2 goals and wasted the opportunity to keep the top, no matter of the outcome in the match in Milan. While there are positive comments from Milan that Pioli is the right man for the club, the team isn't bad as it was and there's bright future, the sounds from Turin are bad. Sarri had a dinner with Agnelli, the media already named possible new coaches for Juve, including immediate bringing back of Allegri, who is b.t.w. still under contract with the Old Lady. Sarri had enough time to install his system at Juve, but he's lost in space and time. Ronaldo exploded, but there's no other player who plays on his level, maybe the goalkeepers. Dybala was magnificient after the New Year, but Sarri is very stubborn and starrts with Higuain and never gives 90 minutes to Dybala who is practically the best player at Juve this season. Pjanic is suffering of fatigue or maybe he don't want to play any more for Sarri because he was one of the favourite Allegri's players. Matuidi is always confused when he plays like a teenager, he's not the same Matuidi from the national team and from Allegri's Juve. We remember what happened with Mandzukic who always gave more than 100% fir the jersey, Alex Sandro, Bentancur and Rabiot are nothing special at all, Bonucci and De Ligt are not good enough, Demiral was better while he was healthy. Bernardeschi is lost this season from the start, the same is for Ramsey, while Douglas Costa is a player who can't stay healthy more than 10 days, he is once again injured. If the surplus of players could have been problem at the start of the season and the implementing of a new system needed time, now there's no cure for this Juventus. Mandzukic, Can, Khedira, Chiellini, Demiral, Danilo, Douglas Costa, Bernardeschi are all out, so there shouldn't be big fight over the starting place. Juve lacks offensive players because Mandzukic was thrown out from the team, while the other options are out.
Milan plays better under Pioli, he's slowly making this Milan better. Ibrahimovic is big reinforcement for the team, it was visible against Inter. Some injured players are back, first of all I think about Bonaventura who can help this team much. I really like that player. Hernandez becomes one of the best left backs in the World, Kessie is slowly rediscovering his form, Rebic is very good alongside Ibra, we can't notice that Suso and Pjatek are not in the team any more. Pioli tries to reintegrate Paqueta, he's great player who can be huge reinforcement for the team. All in all, there are many positive sights from Milan, they were practically unbeaten in 2020 before the match with Inter.
There's no doubt who is better here! However, I feel that the bookmakers are crazy with the odds, Inter at home against Napoli and Juve against Milan at San Siro have same odds. Juve were not dominant against Milan in the last several matches, no matter that they won the last 9 matches against Milan in all competitions. The frightening mood in Milan over the rivalry with Juve must stop and this is an ideal opportunity for them to show that they're alive. Also, the part of Juve that wants to see the back of Sarri will be happy if Juve decides to sack him immediately after a possible bad result in Milan. Remember, this is only the first half, the second will be in Turin, so I'm pretty sure that the momentum is on Milan's side.
