Not much to say about this game. Both teams are in fine form, full squads. Simply when it is up to LDU at home against teams from Paraguay, Uruguay etc. such pick is obligatory, no need to tell why and odds already drop. Since 2003 the international balance of LDU in Quito is 38-9-4, in Copa Sudamericana coming from 11 home wins in row, last was 2-0 over defending champions Independiente. Libertad played 2 games here, lost both - 0-2 in 2008 and 0-1 in 2009.
Paraguayans are good team but will need too much of a physical resource because besides the 3,000 meters altitude handicap they also have quite hard schedule in the last days - game with Sao Paulo last midweek, the big derby for the top with Olimpia on Sunday (won with 2 late goals), on Wednesday flight to Guayaquil and on Thursday (the game day) another flight to Quito at noon. Most of the players were busy in all games as Jorge Burruchaga couldn't afford more than 2-3 changes in the starting eleven.
LDU had relatively easy home game vs Deportivo Cuenca in the weekend that was already decided at halftime, won 4-1 and their players should be fresh enough on Thursday, quite likely winners as usual in their home fixture and facing much harder challenge in the return.
