Winners of the last regular season (later lost the title final on penalties) Herediano started Torneo Verano in wrong manner, losing 0-1 the visit to Santos de Guapiles. It is true they have problems in attack because missing the host of topscorers from Invierno - Olman Vargas transferred to Columbus Crew, Jose Cordero in Deportivo Saprissa, Victor Nunez serving a 3-game ban but in this situation coach Soto leaving on the bench both Brazilian strikers Jorge Barbosa and Anderson Andrade plus Esteban Ramirez (another experienced forward) was strange to say at least, playing without any forwards, all three appeared in the 2nd half when it was a bit late. Apart from that Herediano were fully dominating that game but missing chances and after the early goal Santos defending with 10 men it was hard to crack. Not likely to see the same tonight, returning home where Herediano are quite solid (7-3-0 in Invierno) and looking to bounce back after the loss now we must have offensive formation from the start and goals for the home side enough to bring the win. The noted departures can't be an excuse for another fail as Herediano have quite deep squad after investing a lot for the 2011/2012 season trying to bring back their glory days.
Limon were one of the weakest teams in Torneo Invierno (only Orion were behind them at the end of the table by 2 points), started with a 3-2 win exactly over Orion which alone can't be any reference for a progress. Two of their regular defenders moved exactly to Herediano - Whylon Francis and the Argentine defender Ismael Gomez (6 goals in Invierno). Striker Andy Herron is serving 2nd game of his suspension. Quality is clearly on the side of Herediano although Limon have shown they can be a hard nut expecting the hosts to take 3 points.
