On Sunday Vasco won the derby with Fluminense (2-1) and qualified for the semifinals of Taca Guanabara being with the maximum 15 points after 5 rounds, nothing to look for in this game, at the moment practically same if they will finish on 1st or 2nd place in their group.
Volta Redonda (3-1-1) are looking to the semifinals, point or three today will put them on 2nd place with very good prospects to keep it after the last round when they host Friburguense. Probably dreaming to repeat the big success from 2005 when they won Taca Guanabara, one of the just 3 cases in total 47 editions of this championship when a club different than the big four Fla / Flu / Botafogo / Vasco lifted the cup.
Of course Vasco are class over Volta Redonda however it all depends on their attitude to this game. The coach Cristóvão Borges doesn't reveal his plans for tonight but quite likely will field a mixed team (as Vasco are also playing in Copa Libertadores no need to push the maximum in every game). Some players hanging with cards expected to get on purpose another so to serve suspensions in the last useless round and enter "clean" the knock-out stage, I won't be surprised even by some red card for Vasco. Also the local press is speculating that if Vasco drop points against Volta Redonda actually this is good for them because eliminating Fluminense (currently trailing Volta Redonda by 3 pts) as possible hard opponent in the final.
Someone who likes bigger risks may try X2, I will use 1 ball handicap as insurance and smaller stake.
P.S. The more popular bet for tonight is Fluminense against Americano, very shortened odds but preferring to keep aside, Flu disappointed us a lot in the previous 2 weeks and too much depending on other results to be trusted, also playing later that Vasco - Volta Redonda the result from which may have an impact. Anyway if Vasco wins you can try Flu with some better odds in live betting.
