It was disappointing that opening AH odds were destroyed very fast this morning before I was able to issue a pick and generally dropping everywhere but Independiente are very good bet indeed.
In general Independiente are modest team which didn't had a good start of the season but simply hit the jackpot after changing their coach with Carlos Sevilla - very experienced one, he has managed all big Ecuadorean teams in the past, champion with Emelec and Deportivo Quito. Negriazules look reborn and come from back-to-back wins over serious teams like El Nacional and Deportivo Quito, especially impressive was the away win over title contender Deportivo Quito as Independiente turned the game from 0-2 to 3-2 with hattrick by Narciso Mina. 3 rounds ago just bad luck stopped them to beat also Olmedo away, Olmedo equalized for 2-2 in the 93th minute.... Mina is in great form, one of the top scorers of Primera and hoping to get a call for the NT for Copa America.
On the other side we have team in totally different condition. Manta lost a lot of their power after last season, coach Fabian Bustos and 4-5 key players left to more ambitious teams. Especially big was the departure of Julio Bevacqua (22 goals last season) who is again leading scorer in the league but now in benefit of Deportivo Quito. New signings weren't good. So it was surprise that Manta started quite decent this season but didn't need much time to fall in crisis. After very poor results in the last month and latest 1-4 defeat from El Nacional coach Gabriel Perrone resigned on Monday, temporary the team will be led by Carlos Pico.
Besides the above, Manta coming from the Pasific seaside are traditionally poor playing at high altitude (meaning almost all of their away games), here Sangolquí is a kind of suburb of Quito at 2,570 meters.
